Before Ruby Heard became a vocal advocate for the environment, she was a young student who had a genuine love for engineering. 

She enjoyed all aspects of the field, from problem-solving and maths to the psychology of dealing with clients. And in high school, she knew she wanted to be an engineer. 

Although she initially lacked support from teachers, she worked hard and even took physics classes between year 11 and 12 to catch up with her studies. 

In this episode, Ruby Heard takes us back to her high school days when she first discovered engineering and how it led to her pursuing the degree at university.
